From the romantic and colourful enthusiasm of the beginning of the war, to its descent into the muddy grey despair of the trenches and the nightmarish black and white of Verdun’s hell, these stories will present an historically accurate depiction of the main events and evolution of the war in France between August 1914 and August 1918.
Their narrative form, at once deeply evocative and poetically fake, will create a new iconography of the First World War by pushing and blurring the boundaries between graphic novel, photo novella and paper movie.
So from January onward, I will make sure to keep you informed about the progress of the work on Part One. Until then we will allow Christmas to take precedent, spending time with family and enjoying a short summer break on the beach.
